Sometimes people are surprised to see the opposite of this verse is also true. If people don’t declare the Lord is the USA’s God, then they are saying they want the nation cursed, explained Andrew.
“By deciding that the Lord is our nation’s God, then you have the assurance that He watches over the country. In fact, God sees those who are in covenant with Him and this gets His attention of who He should protect and bless,” he said.
The reason following God’s Son, Jesus Christ, is so vital is the Bible says lives are at stake and there is great danger of perishing if people follow other gods (Deuteronomy 8:19, John 3:16). Israel went from freedom to captivity because of tolerance of strange gods and other sins. The only way to go to Heaven is to believe Jesus died on the cross for our sins.
It is unsafe to not serve the one true God, who cares for us and blesses or judges us based on if the USA follows Him or not. It provokes God if we have any other god (James 4:4).
