“The LORD is our King” Isaiah 33:22 KJV
Who is your king?
Each person has a king.
How do you know who your leader is?The answer is the person who you obey is your king.
So, who do you follow? There are two choices:
- Jesus Christ – the King of the Kingdom of God, or
- The devil – the king of the power of darkness.
Everyone serves one of these two kings, Jesus Christ or Satan.
However, choosing the right king makes the difference between living in:
- Light, truth, justice and liberty with King Jesus, or
- Darkness, lies, danger and tyranny with the devil.
You must make the decision that Jesus is your King, since after Adam’s fall people are naturally born under the sinful nature. The people not following Jesus Christ are under Satan’s power, even if they serve themselves or a person in sin (Colossians 1:13).
Who we follow is an urgent matter that affects the safety of our daily lives and the future of the USA. We see our country’s survival is at stake with many troubles – from politicians opposing our God-given rights to terrorism.
The Bible says these great problems are a sign for our nation to get right with God. To do this we reaffirm the USA has no king but King Jesus. God wants us to agree with our Christian founders who made covenant that our nation serves the LORD.
Now, let’s answer the question: Is it right to have Jesus as your King?

Jesus Christ is the sovereign of the universe
Who is Jesus Christ? We know the Gospel says He is our Saviour from sin, but the Word of God also says:
- Jesus Christ is the “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation 19:16). He has absolute dominion over all of creation. Everyone is subject to Him (Ephesians 1:20-23, Revelation 1:5).
- “The government shall be upon his shoulder” (Isaiah 9:6). Every person and leader is subject to Jesus’ authority.
- Everything we do is judged by God. Each of us will give an account of our lives to Jesus on the Judgment Day, so it is important to follow Him today (2 Corinthians 5:10, Psalm 2, 2 Samuel 23:3).
- We are stewards of what God has given us. Imagine the day when you see Jesus and hear Him say, “Well done” to what you did for Him in your life (Matthew 25:21).
- Everyone against Jesus Christ will be cast into the lake of fire on the Judgment day, for opposing God (Revelation 20:15).
God commands each of us to have Jesus as our King. Jesus is “Lord of all” (Acts 10:36). Jesus Christ is the King of the universe because “all power… in heaven and in earth” has been given to Him (Matthew 28:18). “The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.” (John 3:35). To glorify God we are to live having no king but King Jesus (Isaiah 33:22, Philippians 2:11, Psalm 2).
However, some people have an incorrect view of Jesus. They think He is a great King who just loves everyone, but He isn’t just. This is not the truth but an idol of people’s imagination. The Bible tells us the real Jesus is holy. He died on the cross to show His love for sinners, but He also has righteousness as the scepter of His throne (Hebrews 1:8). It would be unjust for King Jesus to tolerate evil. That is why the people calling evil good are Jesus Christ’s enemies and those in sin should feel guilt about their rebellion and humbly turn to Him for forgiveness.
The Bible teaches that the people disobeying Jesus are causing God’s judgment to the nation by sinning with false gods, same-sex marriage and abortion. Judgment is serious. Sin is what causes lives to be in danger with perishing, destruction and political corruption (Deuteronomy 8:19-20, Jude 7, Psalm 106:37-41).
Let’s look at four common levels of having Jesus as your King:
- Rebellion – Serve self, serve man not King Jesus.
- Mental assent that Jesus is your King – Many Christians are at this level where they agree that Jesus is their King but don’t think, “What does Jesus want me to do?” when making decisions.
- Partial surrender to the KING OF KINGS – Willing to obey God but only occasionally takes a public stand for Jesus Christ.
- Total surrender to King Jesus – This is the level God desires. We see the disciples left all and followed Jesus. The founding fathers boldly proclaimed “no king but King Jesus” instead of man. They tell Americans to follow Isaiah 33:22 and live with Jesus as judge, lawgiver and king.
Our founders taught it is our duty to do God’s will. So if Jesus is your leader, then “obey God, rather than men” (Acts 5:29).
For example, if an unjust Supreme Court says same-sex marriage is “legal,” but Jesus says God made male and female for marriage, then if you obey Jesus and say same-sex marriage is illegal then He is your King (Leviticus 18:22). Otherwise, whether you know it or not, you are serving the devil. It is the same with other sins. Remember, Jesus says, “you shall not kill,” but politicians who hate Jesus want people to kill their children with government funded abortion (Matthew 5:21). Other people serve money, fashion, or a political party instead of King Jesus.
The good news is it is not too late to decide to follow Jesus; He is the greatest King.
Jesus Christ is the secret to have God’s blessings
Seeing Christians persecuted at work and school, widespread corruption and police state spying on innocent Americans, it is urgent to make Jesus your King. He is the only one who gives us the safety and freedoms that Americans love.
It is easy for our nation to have abundant blessings again, once we realize all blessings come through Jesus Christ.
Jesus is the author of liberty. God says the USA can only have freedom through Jesus Christ. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (2 Corinthians 6:17). Demanding the USA serves “no king but King Jesus” is what makes a true American so much different than other people who compromise by following sinful man instead of God.
Young people today want American liberty, so they need to make Jesus the King of their life to live in freedom.
The truth is following Jesus is the only way to have happiness; no man compares to the Son of God. Trusting and obeying King Jesus assures:
- The Son of God takes care of you
- You experience the Kingdom of God
- You have God’s favor
- Christian religious liberty
Real Americans are different than other people because they demand the USA has no king but King Jesus.
If you love Jesus and want to have the Kingdom of God’s blessings, then daily make Jesus your King. He said, “the Kingdom of God is at hand” (Mark 1:15). God’s will is that we experience the Kingdom of God in our lives and entire nation. That is why to serve Jesus we must be faithful and proclaim, “The USA is a Christian nation.” It is amazing to think that just a few settlers dedicated the whole nation to God and look what their faith did!
To get out of our national crisis, we need every Christian and church to boldly speak up to have no king but King Jesus. We must call to have to a Christian government, from school boards to president, and for the Bible and Christian prayer to be back in schools. This is how we obey King Jesus, like our founders who put God first place for America.
Some say you can’t force God on the nation. However, disobeying God means His judgment, lives in danger and possible captivity, as happened to Israel after they stopped having God as their King. Our founders forced Christianity on the nation; they obeyed Jesus Christ and taught Christianity to all children in public schools, not false religions. As a result, God blessed the USA more than all the other nations, more people went to Heaven instead of hell, the country had safety and protection, and Americans were known for wisdom and integrity. It is important that we do the same to glorify God and to live blessed lives.
Why do we say, “Jesus Christ is Lord of the USA”? The answer is that where Jesus reigns there is liberty, prosperity, peace, brotherly love, and every good thing. Our rights come from the “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORD’S”. But those who do not have Jesus as King think that government controls rights; this humanistic lie is unBiblical, unAmerican and harms our lives.
If you want to be free of dictators, Shariah law, and communism, then fear God and live with Jesus Christ as the leader of our nation. Stop waiting for a Christian president to say you have liberty because the USA is a Christian Republic, one nation under God, where “we the people” serve King Jesus. You already have God-given liberty; the Declaration of Independence affirms this truth. Liberty comes from the church, from Christians who know they are free in Christ, not government.
Americans have “No King But King Jesus”
Is having no king but King Jesus the secret how the USA attained civil liberty? England, the strongest military power, attacked our founding fathers’ unalienable rights, raised taxes and opposed Christian freedom. So what did fearless Americans do? Famous pastors, like Jonas Clark, taught that “God is governor among the nations” from Psalm 22:28 (KJV).
Andrew explains this in “Jesus Makes America Great” and “Save America” and writes:
Tensions were high. Resistance to tyrants was publicly viewed as obedience to God and liberty for every American. England saw that the people of our nation were confident that Jesus wanted them to obey Him, not King George. The English appointed governor of Boston reported in 1774, If you ask an American, who is his master? He will tell you he has none, nor any governor but Jesus Christ.
Patriotically, our founders sounded, No king but King Jesus, as an American Revolution motto. This famous battle cry affirms that Jesus Christ rules our nation and the USA lives for Him. This is why we are One Nation Under God! They recognized Jesus’ authority and we need to follow their example and confess that Jesus is our King and authority.
Americans believe it is our country’s duty to serve God and that human authority is under God’s authority.
Each of us have to answer: Is it right to obey God rather than men? (Acts 5:29) We ha hope because following Jesus Christ is how the USA overcomes incredible conflicts and finds miraculous help from God to favor Americans. Are you on board?
Americans strongly believe to oppose tyranny, since tyrants don’t serve God but themselves. American Revolution pastors taught that tyrants do the devil’s will. Americans believe in personal responsibility to live as Christians pleasing God, not to live in bondage to ungodly communist government control. This is why the Constitution limits what government can do and has separation of powers for a safeguard for our Christian freedom to prevent dictatorship.
Liberty is based on the Bible. God raised up Moses to oppose and defeat Pharaoh, who’s heart was hardened to God and mistreated the people. Egypt’s ungodly king opposed people’s God-given rights to serve the LORD.
God blessed our founders for opposing a tyrannical government, which is proof that the correct meaning of Romans 13 is to live with Jesus as king, obeying God rather than men.

Living with Jesus as King is how to save the USA
We have hope by getting back to our founders’ beliefs that Jesus is our King, for “His Kingdom rules over all” (Psalm 103:19). Having no king but King Jesus isn’t reserved only for when we get to Heaven; it is a daily, moment-by-moment walk with Him.
To live with Jesus as your leader, first acknowledge Him as your King. Then during the day follow what the Holy Bible teaches and thank Jesus for His goodness, protection and liberty. This is how you submit to His authority and receive His blessings (Matthew 16:24).
Having no king but King Jesus always defeats America’s enemies. We need every pastor to teach that Jesus is King so we will make the USA great again. Looking at the troubles today, we see that the people not following Jesus Christ are the cause for the national crisis.
Serving the Son of God is why our beloved nation stands up for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Jesus Christ is the true secret to America’s greatness. It is Jesus who makes the USA free! Our liberty-loving nation must have no king but King Jesus so we are on God’s side and have God’s blessings.
What type of person wouldn’t follow Jesus? The Bible teaches the answer is a person who hates light and wants to live in lies, danger and tyranny.
Will you affirm that Jesus is the USA’s King? If you want Jesus as your King, then with love for God in your heart, often share with as many people as you can, The LORD is our king; He will save us (Isaiah 33:22).
Join in prayer: Father, Jesus is King of my life and He is King of the USA to Your glory. Thank You for protection, liberty, light and truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
